Dynamic Combatives Instruction
Per U.S. Army FM 3-25.150 Combatives:
1-1. Hand-to-hand combat — Hand-to-hand combat is an engagement, between two or more persons, with or without hand-held weapons, such as knives, sticks, or projectile weapons within the range of physical contact.
1-2. Combatives — Combatives are the techniques and tactics useful to Soldiers involved in Hand-to-hand combat. Proficiency in Combatives is one of the fundamental building blocks for training the modern Soldier.
Hand to hand combat has not changed much for the past few hundred years. The human body has grown larger but the movements and capabilities have not. Technology has progressed in amazing ways over the same time period. The items we place in the hand have changed the way we must move our bodies when in contact range of our opponent.
Militaries (Army, Marines, Navy & Air Force) and Paramilitaries (Police, SWAT & PMC) have developed tactics for Close Quarter Combat (CQC). These combatives incorporate fighting techniques from conventional martial arts (Karate, Jujitsu etc.) and combat sports (MMA).
The major difference between Combatives and Traditional Martial Arts is combative fighting systems do not have a sport application. The techniques focused on quick and simple victory in a modern melee situation with or without hand-held weapons. The weapons focus is on the weapons most likely to be encounter in the execution of their position.
Dynamic Combatives is based on simple drills that through repetition help you memorize and master the techniques needed for CQC survival. Our foundation is Bujinkan Ninjitsu with current military and paramilitary weapons tactics. Dynamic Combatives trains you to face single or multiple opponents. You will work with opponents in various stages of body armor and learn to fight in the equipment you take with you on a daily basis.
Shadowerks
Shadowerks is staffed by instructors from the Bujinkan dojo. In addition to the standard rigors of becoming a black belt in Ninjitsu these instructors have prior law enforcement or military backgrounds. We have combined the knowledge handed down over the centuries from the Bujinkan and molded it to fit with today’s battlefield weapons and tactics.
Training Courses
We have a group that meets regularly in the St Louis Missouri area. We feel this is the best way to learn. By having a mentor who can guide and direct you, as you work out with a partner, you can reach your fullest potential. This group studies Dynamic Combative and traditional Bujinkan Budo Tai Jitsu. You can join either class or work out with both.
If your goal is to study all the Ryuha of the Bujinkan while working through the belt rankings we can help. Shidoshi Rhoads can help you obtain ranking up to 4th dan. You will need to travel to Japan to train with Soke Hatsumi for your 5th dan and above.
If you goal is to master a more modern combative style then the Dynamic Combatives class will prepare you for your next short range encounter. The teaching style is different than the Bujinkan. Movements are broken down into simple repeatable drills. You will find this class to be physically taxing while maintaining a high level of fun.
If you live to far from St Louis to train with us there are other options. We do offer seminars throughout the year.
