Blood Choke Attacks
He took another drag from his cigarette and flicked it to the ground with enough force to cause a shower of sparks from the impact with the pavement. The guard pulled his head back and savored the heat in his lungs as he slowed propelled the smoke through clenched teeth. His gaze refused to settle at the darkened gateway ahead of him. How many relentless hours of his life have been wasted guarding this forgotten hell hole? He shuffled his feet against the cold when he noticed a flash of movement.
Like a boa constrictor squeezing the life out of it’s dinner someone had come in behind him. The arm was like steel and the top if his head felt like it was going to explode. He needed to get out of this grip quickly, and it needed to happen now. As he was working on the escape he began to fall, falling to the ground, falling back, falling unconscious.
Blood Chokes
The blood choke causes the victim to lose consciousness by compressing the carotid arteries on either side of the neck or by compressing under the jaw blocking the blood flow from the brain. Blood chokes are usually favored over strangulation because it is easy to damage the trachea (windpipe) causing sever swelling and possibly death.
With the popularity of MMA sport fighting, people have become aware of the effectiveness of the choke hold. In the old days of professional wrestling the Sleeper Hold was applied to an opponent and the two wrestlers danced across the ring in a protracted dace to darkness. When the hold is properly applied in a chain linked fenced octagon the hold become a few second dash to victory.
When we discuss chokes we use 2 terms, standard and naked strangles. Naked chokes refers to techniques that do not involve the clothing of the training partner. Regular chokes normally includes the partners clothing or other form of assistance.
One dangerous trend in today’s society is playing with blood chokes. There are many warnings about the dangers of using these techniques for entertainment or other deviant purposes so be careful who you teach them to and warn them to use them under the correct circumstances.
Just For Fun
The proper way to use a blood chock is to put your intended target into distress and increase their blood flow. This will cause the technique to work twice as fast. When you teach the technique combine it with an off balancing movement. Guide the target back onto their heels and add the fear of falling. Their fight or flight reaction will kick in and the rush will quicken the heart rate. They will be forced to try and maintain their balance and it will keep them from being able to remove your hold. You also need to start working them towards the ground so that when they pass out you can maintain the hold and prevent damage to yourself or your target. Remember to release the hold before brain damage occurs from blood loss. You also need to be aware of the clothing around their neck to insure that the blood flow returns and it’s not blocked by gathering of a garment.
There are several chokes that can be applied from the front and rear of your target using their coat, shirts or just your own limbs. Train safely and never apply this without your training partner’s consent (unless it a competition or you’re on a mission).
